Grass Planting – Be it a pocket sized patch or an extensive lawn, the most beautiful feature of the home turf remains the green grass.  A well kept garden becomes a haven with its inviting green carpet of grass. The planting of lawn grass depends upon it usage and selection of grass.

Grass Planting Basics
– For doing the job you need to decide on what kind of grass you want to plant and get the appropriate seeds. Make note of the preliminary work to be done and follow the rules on the simple basics.

·         Step 1 – Outline and till the area.
·         Step 2 – Sow seeds in commercial planter or in the soil.
·         Step 3 – Follow the planting techniques and do not forget to water regularly.

Grass Planting Method -
Ideally all grass seeds bear good results when planted into a freshly prepared, tilled, firm, pure soil seed bed. The key with getting grass seeds to germinate is to have good "seed/soil" contact.  This means that soil is in direct contact to the surface of the seeds.  Ideally the best seed/soil contact is where the seeds are completely surrounded by soil.

POPULAR GRASS TYPES

Planting Bermuda Grass These are warm season lawn grasses that thrive on sunlight and require little maintenance. They can easily be grown from their seeds but need constant care as they are susceptible to insects' infections. The best time for planting Bermuda seeds is late spring or early summer.
Planting Rye Grass

There are two types of rye grasses the annual and the perennial. These cool season grasses grow very fast and act as barriers to soil erosion. They are very easy to grow from seeds and all you have to do is just throw the seeds into the soil to grow the grass.

Ornamental Grasses These include a variety of regular grasses and also sub-species like sedges, rushes and bamboo. Other types include fountain grass, lyme grass, feathered reed grass and plume grass that are finer varieties of ornamental grass. Landscaping techniques deploy classy grass ornamentation.

Planting Grass Trivia – The world's tallest grass that has sometimes grown 130 feet or more is bamboo!
